When MAL started to enshittify years ago, I moved over to Kitsu. It was easy because of the import option. I use Kitsune from F-Droid with it and it’s been a delight.

Also I don’t think anyone could distinguish LLM-generated isekai from regular isekai at this point. Most of them are already kind of “borrowed” content from each other, LLMs made it just worse.
Oh, thanks! It always happens when I write via a touchscreen. -_-
It might not be an exact noob recommendation but I believe it has quite the charm, even for someone who never watched anime. But you might be onto something, I gotta change the order.
I would say, take recommendations but you don’t have to watch them to end. See if they click with you after watching a couple episodes. Once you have found genres you like, you can start from top rated animes of that genre.
A couple suggestions from me:
Bonus:

While I personally love comedy in general, similar thing happened to me with Asobi Asobase. I dropped at “ass laser episode”. No idea why people like it that much.
Trigun (the original) has a good one, which is not just an exoplanet western setup.
Small world but I really liked the pace of world expanding in Yuru Yuri.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, while it’s not a usual world building, I really love its take, because the world building is pretty much psychological here.
I think Basilisk has one of the best world buildings out there. It may not be long but a lot of things happening here fast.

This is easily One Piece for me. On the other hand, watching it one by one waiting a week is torment. So I don’t watch it for a year and gulp it at once.

Thanks!
Hmm, I don’t think my ISP interfering with the DNS since it’s easy for pi-hole to bypass. However it’s more likely that this website is blocked in the whole country, presuming because of the R18 content. All of the ~booru sites are blocked as well.

I checked my usual suspects like pi-hole but they were not it. However, it seems it’s my ISP like you said, because I can connect to the site via Tor or VPN. Thanks for checking though.

My TLS version is 1.3 and functional. I got MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT error which means this website is self-signed and apparently browsers tend to distrust self-signed websites. For Google certificates, I have GTS Root R1 to R4. Do I miss something there? If so, how do I update it?

Firefox doesn’t like it for some reason.

Anilist has an import option. Kitsu has an import option. AniDB might not have. My favourite is Kitsu though.

Depends on the person. Higurashi was quite scary for me. Even Jigoku Shoujo.

You’re welcome! Have fun.

If you’re looking for romance drama, I suggest Nana. It’s one of my all time favourites.
It’s not 10 Best without Yakitate Japan.

What year is it?

I must be Nepgear.
IMO it’s actually fine in series, not just anime, in general. There is a formula for each series that work for them. You watch the series if you like the formula.
On the other hand, I hate this for a lot of Hollywood films. A lot of them share the same formula, it’s not even fun to watch.
I won’t even try to reach One Piece, there is Detective Conan. Every episode is the same for 30 years yet they still make it and people still watch it. Why? Because the formula is good.
