I just stumbled across easily my favorite series of the season - Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express
It’s like anime espresso - the small crew (the entire cast and crew credits fit on a single page) somehow crams more story, character development and laugh out loud moments into its 3½ minute episodes than most full length series can manage.
For anyone interested in watching it, start with the prequel, Milky☆Highway, which introduces Makina and Chiharu, and the pacing and the dense, multi-layered dialogue that contribute to cramming so much deliciousness into so little space.
And I’d say that Yohei Kameyama is definitely someone to watch. I can only imagine what they could accomplish with more run-time and a bigger budget.
Recently re-watched most of the first few seasons of Demon Slayer right after having re-read the manga. Seeing the two versions side-by-side like that was fun; I was interested to find that a lot of the boring-ass demon backstories are much much shorter in the manga. I skipped over them this time as I was watching and it was a much better experience.
I also started watching Takopi’s Original Sin this week. I’m two episodes in and wow. That’s a dark, dark show. It’s kind of difficult to watch. Very well-executed though. I recommend it to anyone who doesn’t particularly feel like being happy.
I also started watching Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express. As WatDabney said, it’s a great time. I love how densely packed it is. They’re constantly either expanding on the characters, making a joke, or setting up for a joke. No downtime.
I’m watching Bad Girl and it’s so gay, I love it. It’s also super funny.
It’s maybe my favorite new show this season. I’m so in the bag for Suzu.
God me too
I just caught up to One Piece. Now I want more but they’re on hiatus :(
Don’t get me wrong, I like that the creators have switched to a more reasonable schedule. It just doesn’t make the wait much better
I just watched the first 6 episodes of Silent Witch, and it’s pretty good for what it is. The characters are cute, some scenes are funny, it’s a slice-of-life with the MC being secretly S-tier in terms power but F-tier in social skills. I recommend it if that at all interests you.
Past Seasons
Continuing from season 1, I watched season 2 and 3 of Haikyuu over the past week.
Season 2 had a bit of a slow start because the first half is just a training arc but once they start the tournament proper, it became as exciting as ever.
By the way, I’m proud that I predicted
Haikyuu season 2 spoiler
Kageyama’s last setter dump in the match against Aoba Jousai / Seijo.
I was thinking:
It’s been a while since Kageyama did a setter dump (compared to all the other attacks the team is making).
They were at a deuce, and obviously they are going to have the Kageyama-Hinata fast attack combo to end it - to show that they have grown since their last game against Seijo.
To score the point before that, given the focus on all their other attacks so far, the most unexpected move has to be a setter dump.
As I was thinking that, the team started their synchronised attack. That moment confirmed my suspicions. With so many spikers to guard against, the last thing Seijo would expect is an attempt at scoring by the setter himself.
