Hey,

I upgraded my audio setup with a turn table and pre-amp even though I don’t own a single vinyl (drunken impulse buy - don’t ask).

So what are some must have anime soundtracks that are readily available to buy online (and don’t cost absurd collectors prices, looking at you Made In Abyss OST)? I have already added to the basket:

  • Cowboy Bebop (Original Series Soundtrack)
  • Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End / Soundtrack
  • Video Game Lofi: Persona Original Soundtrack

edit

  • Ghost in the Shell (Original Soundtrack)
  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Original Soundtrack)
  • Cowboy Bebop - The Real Folk Blues Legends
  • Nana - Best Extended Version (Original Soundtrack)
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Original Soundtrack) (I know, not an anime)

Do we have some vinyl enthusiasts here that have some good resources to share?

I don’t have any recommendations for specific soundtracks, but a couple of good sites for buying them are:

CDjapan a site that allows for buying from Japanese vendors with a focus on media (of all kinds).

Materia Store Materia is an independent music publisher. They publish a bunch of anime, video game, and movie soundtracks as well as remixes.

I also have good experiences with them. Recently I bought the ARIA ost Vinyls that were released but I was a bit late (didn’t pre-order) but they managed to proxy ship them to me from another vendor in Japan. That is more expensive though but sometimes the only way to get something. Keep in mind that anything you ship from Japan can easily go up to 1.5-2.0 times the price of the item with shipping, duties and taxes.

I’m mostly afraid of the vinyl getting damaged during long international shipping and then returns being a hassle or straight out not available.

I do, though not in the last year or so.

My experience was generally pretty good. Things generally showed up well packaged and undamaged. The worst I’ve had was a CD that showed up with a crack in the jewel case, but those things are so fragile it’s entirely possible I did that just by breathing on it wrong.

Shipping times are about what you would expect for things being shipped from Japan. At least where I’m at it was usually 1-2 weeks and half that time would be waiting for it to clear customs.
