This is great news! Just caught up with Season 2 the other day, so I’m glad we’ll be getting more. Hopefully not another 6 years, but I’ll wait however long it takes for it to be done right.
If I recall correctly, the source manga had (has?) a rather irregular publication schedule, so they were probably waiting to have enough material.
Dorohedoro is already finished. It already was before the first season even got released!
The manga ended in September 2018 and the first anime was aired in January 2020.
So sadly it looks more like it just wasn’t successful enough to get the funding immediately. But I’m happy to see it getting a slow release then an axing.
I actually skipped season 1 when it first came out because I was hesitant on the CGI. Watching season 1 and 2 back to back shows a crazy improvement in the CGI.
