I used to watch anime but haven’t watched anything new in a while now. Have a 6 year old kid and thought it would be a good excuse to start watching some together with her. We just completed little witch academy and we have seen the ghibli movies. I’m seeking more series and movies that would be appropriate for kids and also not to boring for an adult to watch.
@Burbour Natsume’s book of friends is probably a good call. Bunny Drop? Folktales from Japan. Ranking of Kings. Ascendance of a bookworm? Sandland? Mono?
Ascendance of a Bookworm is likely good, though things are about to get a little confusing in the next season.

Mine is “forced” to leave her family, get “secretly” adopted into nobility, get adopted from that new family, and can’t even acknowledge her biological family as such.
Might be a little confusing for a young kid.
The earlier seasons are also not appropriate for a 6-year-old. Besewanst is threatening to kill Myne’s family. A young kid might react very badly to this. Then there is an abduction attempt, the terrible situation in the orphanage, and the general disregard for human life by the nobility. I think people only remember the lighthearted moments from the show and are forgetting that there are a lot of very dark topics in the show.
Eh, I suppose that’s something to keep in mind. I didn’t think that was any worse than old school Batman where someone is threatening to blow up Gotham and such. But obviously I grew up in a different time. ;D
There is a difference between something abstract like “I blow up the city” compared to “here are your parents. You’re gonna watch while I kill them”. The “I blow up the city” scenario is so huge that it’s harder to wrap a mind around, while the up close and personal “I’ll kill your parents” is immediately tangible, even though the parents are dead either way.
Btw. this is a tangent, but I also believe that this is true for the “other side”. Must be infinitely easier to press a button and nuke a city, then to look someone in the eye and drive a dagger into their body.
All good points! Honestly this is likely why kid shows have changed into “let’s go explore” and such instead of “people are gonna die!”
