I like Ainz from Overlord because he has a heart for the people close to him and he gets really excited and supportive of people that catch his interest, like Enri from the small village near his stronghold. Also, his idiocy is entertaining. He is a complete monster outside of that though. His actions are not justified and punishment is severe for anyone that slights him.

Just dont read the lightnovels, I heard it gets much more violent there, apparently the anime toned down a lot of suffering they inflict
I can see that and appreciate the toning down of it. I don’t need to see the details of the awful things they do to their enemies.
