Unrelated rant, but does anyone else find that graphics cards nowadays are way too thick to be aesthetic? They look more like bricks than cards. And it’s not like you need such a large cooler for a low-wattage card, so presumably manufacturers are only doing this for the aesthetic. But does anybody actually like that look?

Anyways, the 2-slot card in the OP feels like a semblance of sanity

I had to buy a new case unexpectedly last time I bought a card, because after years and years of only having to check that the length was compatible they randomly made them thicker.

My GPU uses 3x the power of my CPU and has a heat sink less than 3x the size, so it kinda checks out.

I do wish I had gotten the 2-slot version instead of the 2.5 slot version – picking the wrong one (because I was standing in line on launch day and hadn’t had time to research the options properly) cost me having to get a new case and power supply.

I feel like they put bigger coolers on just to make the card seem powerful.

Then when you look at the ITX half-length model for the same chip, and it runs fine, you realize that shit was way past overkill.

It has resulted in some super-quiet cards tho.
