  • I rewatched 5th ep. of Kinmoza. I recalled that Kinmoza, Hitoribocchi and Gochiusa had similar vibe. However, for me, the most quintessential thing in Gochiusa was music: even after all these years I still remember its OPs and EDs (which I’ve never rewatched, you know why). That’s the key diff I guess. Also focus on bunnies, unlike blonde girls, is cuter :). I need to rewatch both to come to better conclusion. (Of course, it doesn’t mean I didn’t like Kinmoza.)

  • how pink bocchi is more popular with the general audience than seemingly any other slice of life

I think you know why it’s so, right? If shortly how I see it. People’s feelings resonates with Hitori’s feelings (when they tell “she’s litterally me”) and that’s what they like in it. The way anime shows Bocchi’s feelings is really the best part of BTR, for example:

moment somewhere in first 4 episodes

As a person who thinks in mental images (like musicians and artists) in his head, I am delighted.

In general, SOL is very different (at least usually I can’t associate myself with girls in k-on, yryr, aria). You wanna see not “yourself”, but funny girls and enjoy someone else’s happiness, I suppose. In my case I’m glad that Bocchi found friends and (almost) became popular guitarist as she wished. That could be me or smth xD.

There are other reasons of course.

My tier list: Gochiusa >= K-ON >= BTR > Hitoribocchi > Kinmoza. In Kinmoza I mostly liked Aya/Youko pair, maybe I need to rewatch it. Still, I think Hitoribocchi is underestimated.

P.S. I hope I didn’t overload the reply. I can write more detailed. (But sometimes can’t figure out even 1 sentence.)

  • Speaking of music, both OPs written in 2010s-appropriate style, but 2nd feels to me, personally, more freshly, like a good update of 1st one.

In the anime itself, I noticed that, the main character interacts with a fairly wide range of secondary (though they are more like “primary”) characters. It was entertaining to observe the main character’s interaction with them. If you think about it, Ika Musume is like an isekai but vice versa (if assume Chizuru is just a human).
