Simon Sinek identified simply that there are 3 characteristics always in a real leader:
- courage
- integrity ( those 2 go together, obviously: it takes courage to hold-to integrity, & it takes integrity to drive courage )
- relentlessly studying communication
The 12-characteristics schemas you’re going over are good, but if you don’t have the fundamentals right, you’re not a competent leader.
There is a hierarchy-of-competencies involved.
This is true in many domains.
E.g: if you don’t understand the distinct fluid-dynamics-regimes, then you aren’t likely to be competent to design good aircraft:
- low-Reynolds-numbers ( drones ),
- is distinct from low-subsonic real aircraft ( Re of 0.5-million or more ),
- is distinct from high-subsonic,
- is distinct from near-transonic,
- is distinct from transonic,
- is distinct from low-supersonic ( jets ),
- is distinct from high-supersonic ( ramjets ).
Every 1 of those has distinct requirements.
If you don’t have that one fundamental understanding, they you’re … not seeing the forest for the trees.
The same is true in understanding people:
if you don’t understand that there are a few unconscious-mind development-stages that you encounter in workplaces…
- Kegan3, wanting to be liked, telling everybody what they want-to-hear… ( the absorbing-meanings stage of unconscious-mind development - about 50% of working-professionals, in Kegan & Lahey’s WEIRD-professionals research )
- Kegan4, BullingBOSS mode, any other claiming any validity threatens one’s exclusive-validity ( one’s unconscious-ind pushing-out meanings which violate one’s identity - about 25% of WEIRD working-professionals )
- Kegan5, systems-of-systems mode ( less than 1% of working-professionals )
- ( the reason that the percentages don’t add-up to 100%, is simply that people are often stuck between stages. Further, I later found-out that people can be in Kegan4 at work, but Kegan3 among their family, so it seems to be a relationship-context-by-relationship-context thing, to some extent )
…then how can you possibly understand why there needs to be a glass-ceiling to prevent the BullingBOSS mode ones from getting systems-of-systems jobs/work??
the book of theirs that I read on this was their “Immunity to Change”, which is on our unconscious-mind’s fighting-off of growing-up, & how to dismantle its sabotage-of-one’s-entire-life.
Robert Kegan’s got other names for the stages, I’ve found sooo damn many different dimensions-of-development, that I’m only indexing them, now.
Or consider the culture-level/modes of Logan, King, & Dr. Fischer-Wright:

- “Living is self-inherently awesome!” - rooted in Positive-Sum Game ( see John Braddock’s trilogy for that ) - win-win-alliances

- “I am awesome, others are not” - rooted in Zero-Sum Game - competitive narcissism

- “Life sucks: why not butcher it up for fun?” - rooted in Negative-Sum Game - competitive nihilism
I’ve shown which category-of-game they’re rooted-in, because they didn’t find that, & it’s key, but those are THE 5 culture-levels that are found throughout the world they studied, & they discovered how to get much of a community’s/organization’s culture up 1 notch within about 1/4-year.
More than that is harder, & takes time.
I think it is Griffen Hospital, which is THE poster-child for level-4-and-5 culture.
They ended-up being able to hire the best doctors, not because of higher pay, but because of quality-of-life there.
Their treasure/book is named “Tribal Leadership”.
The fundamentals are more important than anything else.
Don’t get those right, & all the other competencies are … not going to fix compensate.
& the author was saying that “practical wisdom” is THE key … but the above things are practical-wisdom.
So is Schneider’s 2x2 Matrix ( yeah, so he did it upside-down, but it’s still genius… uprighted it is… )

Every quadrant in that has its own right-ways, right-methods, right-processes, right-paradigms,
and it is normal for businesses to be applying the wrong quadrant’s management-process to the actual-operation?!
Yep.
That is practical-wisdom, but … it’s something in a slim & spectacularly-important book ( named “Lead Right for Your Company’s TYPE” ): every quadrant has its management-processes identified in it, so one doesn’t need to reinvent wheels or hot-water, to succeed.
These are fundamental, & they are already-solved: we only need the honesty required to accept them, & then honestly impliment them, & our world can improve significantly.
Just saying people need “practical wisdom”, & NOT identifying these specific competencies … is defective, at this point.
The 3 fundamentals that all good leaders have, the KeganStages of unconscious-mind-development, the 5 culture-levels/modes, the 4 quadrants…
That isn’t much to know, but it NUKES millenia of established-ignorance/established-dysfunction’s “need” from our world.
It’s like the difference between people who learn how to build arches by doing endless incremental-experiments … many of which fail, … vs people who know the math, & can calculate the materials-strengths, & solve how much material’s required, where:
it’s a totally-different-game.

it’s the diary of a pedophile.
So, I took the thing, & went down to the building’s paper-recycling-bin, & buried it in that bin.
Normalizing molesting isn’t good for our world.
Would I ban the book?
From grade-schools, certainly.
probably more, but I’d want it to remain in existence, to show people that normalizing-things is an actual problem, in some domains.
Here’s a more-fundamental view of the question, though:
Say there was a book which normalized DarkTetrad behavior towards … say women.
( DarkTetrad is narcissism / machiavellianism / sociopathy-psychopathy / sadism )
IF that book becomes normal, THEN the abuse of women increases.
IF that book becomes uncommon, THEN that book’s “normal” is less harming our world.
Does your body censor the cellular-expression of rabies/ebola/pneumonia/cancer, within it, WHILE accommodating the spectacular diversity of all the healthy-microbes in your gut, all the thousands upon thousands of different cell-types in your organs?
What happens if your body ceases to censor entire-categories of cellular-expression/speech?
pathogens win, then, & cancer wins.
You die, within weeks: it’s called AIDS.
Civilizations also die, when pathogens succeed in highjacking them & intentionally-crashing/wrecking them.
The destruction that Hitler did to Germany was … rather total.
The destruction that Stalin did to the people in the USSR was also profound & significant.
Mao destroyed more Chinese people than any “enemy” ever did.
In every 1 of these cases, it was pathogenic-ideology which “proved its authority” by obliterating millions of lives.
Should serial-murder be censored/banned?
Should domestic-violence?
Should normalizing domestic-violence?
Should normalizing molesting children?
Expression cannot simultaneously be pathogenic & healthy.
Not within our bodies, & not within our civilizations.
It took … decades … but finally I clued-in to the key structure:
The whole framing that Free-Speech is THE proper answer, ignores that if rabies had free-speech within your body, you’d be in the process of dying…
It’s the wrong framing.
Aligned is the right framing.
Rabies is aligned with narcissism, machiavellianism, psychopathy ( it CANNOT value the life it’s consuming ), and … inadvertent-sadism.
That is wrong alignment.
IF its alignment is wrong, THEN it cannot be allowed free-expression.
Period.
Within one’s body, or within one’s civilization.
( issue-diagrams need to be able to identify what evil wants, & to include why it’s wrong, so there’s a kind of free-expression required for that, but firehose-of-disinformation cannot be accommodated, XOR it automatically wins: as Churchill pointed-out, lies are easy to produce, & spread like wildfire, before the truth has even got dressed. )
Harmonious/consensus can be highjacked.
The idiotic consensus “science” of the IPCC, where they simply didn’t allow any extreme models to be in the set-of-models for climate … & now ACTUAL ClimatePunctuation has accelerated sooo fast, sooo far, that NONE of the IPCC models match the current still accelerating actual-climate … the IPCC chose harmony, not alignment.
( the only reason I found out about them doing that was a video by Sabine Hossenfelder, whom I disagree with enough that I can’t recommend her as a consistently-right-source, but in this video’s case, she was right )
Aligned HAS to be primary.
Harmony, IF aligned, is right. Unaligned-harmony, however, is misleading-consensus, going the wrong way.
Political-parties are made of that, in my eyes.
Freedom-of-speech?
Freedom-of-RIGHT-speech, true, correct, valuing-of-lives, valuing-of-civilrights, destroying-disinformation, growing-tranquility/peace, etc, certainly.
But …
… freedom-of-evil’s-speech? Freedom-of-false-accusation-and-false-conviction? Freedom-of-abuse? Freedom-of-gaslighting? Freedom-of-smearing? Freedom-of-bullying? Freedom-of-displacing-objectivity? Freedom-of-displacing-correct-reasoning? Freedom-of-blocking-evolution/growing-up? Freedom-of-prejudice-ideology? Freedom-of-genociding? Freedom of rabies? Freedom of cancer? Freedom of food-poisoning? Freedom of ebola? Freedom of rape? Freedom of murder?
The root-error is that the optimal isn’t narcissistic-freedom, it is yogic aligned freedom: harnessing-our-lives-to-LivingSpirit or LivingWorth, depending on what your cosmology is.
The denser the population, AND the stronger the technology, the more we have to live forebearantly, so as to not butcher the ecology, the future, others, & the world’s life.
Anybody who lives with only primitive-technology, on a continent that has no other large-mammals on it, they can … pretty much do anything whatsoever, & nature will erase them when they’re gone.
But make the population-density be city-level, & make the technology be our current level, & then ANYthing we do butchers the world measurably: therefore the holding-back, the forbearance, HAS to increase, XOR we’re just obliterating future-livesfor sake of our current ignorance/narcissism.
& that is exactly what “yoga” means: to-harness/to-yoke/to-manage.
All the political-framings ignore this underlying reality.
“left is right!” vs “right is right!” … political-motivation, itsefl is delusional false-framing.
It’s a systems question, not a political one.
Carelessness costs opportunity.
Competing in NASCAR?
THEN which car do you want to be competing in?
Economies are like racecars: you can mis-regulate them, & obliterate opportunity, XOR you can rightly regulate them, to prevent corruption, to eradicate waste/loss, to prevent waste, etc, & done right you end up winning: your economy becomes efficient, & powerful.
Economies where healthcare is for all outperform economies where only the 1% can afford it, in some measures ( oligarchy isn’t 1 of those measures: in the oligarchy-measure, or the feudalism-measure, concentration-of-wealth is deemed the “win”, so they score oppositely ).
Economies where evil is accommodated, & then social-pressure is applies to mitigate it once it’s taken-root … how can they compete with economies which prevent evil from taking-root?
Then you get the question of “who gets to decide what evil means?”
That’s easy: divide evil up into dimensions, & have anything which may be prevented ( as being evil ) judged on each & every 1 of those dimensions:
would be a good starting-point for dimensions-of-evil.
Back to the book which normalized-molesting…
Narcissism, … self-machiavellianism?, some sociopathy, some nihilism-of-other-life’s-wholeness, intentional-wrong-framing, obliteration-of-correct-reasoning, indirect-obliteration-of-other-life’s-evolution ( messed-with lives often take many times the normal 21y to reach fully-functional adult meaning ), & intentional-ignorance…
I’d want every 1 of the dimensions to be judged at 2 layers:
so that getting useful measures would be less prone to misunderstanding/scatter…
So, false-framing becomes something censored/intentionally-suppressed…
& integrity becomes something that is intentionally valued.
unlike the way it is in politics, in many countries, right now…
Is it either power-over-others or fear which would eradicate child-molesting & spouse-battering & apartheid-against-women & apartheid-against-ethnicities & apartheid-against-classes?
I say no, it isn’t.
It’s proper values.
So, put-down the normalizing of evil.
With the force actually required to do it.
( all this to say I want correct evidence-based management of our world, not ideological gaslighting as a “religion” )
