And you could upgrade them too. Back when socketed CPUs existed on laptops along with expansion slots, and batteries were removable with a thumb latch (and most laptops could run on the power adapter without the battery being installed, which prevented trickle charging related battery degradation, perfect for a “desktop replacement” that would spend a lot of its time hooked up to power before that category of laptops even really existed). Good times.

And the project manager is just talking about his son’s college football game for 44 of those minutes.
AgreeableLandscape@lemmy.mlto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Interesting difference from Reddit: Upvotes/Downvotes are not anonymousEnglish31·2 years agoBecause in order to federate, user data needs to be shared, including the username. It prevents double votes from the same account and also allows votes to be rescinded at the user’s discretion, at which point the instance will send effectively an undo signal for the activity.
The first rule of the Fediverse is to make sure you’re perfectly okay with the entire internet seeing your account activity, including votes and favourites. If you’re unsure or are worried you might regret it, best not to post it at all. This is equally true on all social media but the way the Fediverse works just makes it more obvious.

It’s clear there’s no reasoning with them and there isn’t much we can do to stop them from spewing propaganda at us. In fact, engaging them will probably only exacerbate things.

Anti-China people: “OMG you actively advocate for China’s atrocities and want them to keep happening!”
AgreeableLandscape@lemmy.mlto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•A thread "Please don't use Lemmy :( Human rights, oppression" on Mastodon11·4 years agoIt’s ironic that the “OMG CHINA IS GENOCIDING” crowd accuses us of lying and ignoring evidence when we tend to be the only ones providing sources for our claims. It’s evident in this very thread.
Multiple Chromium browsers that probably send telemetry to Google, no less.
I’d be slightly less hateful of Electron if it used a non-Google engine, but alas Chrome is the new 90’s Internet Explorer and everyone needs to bend over backwards to it.
