I’ve actually got the BDs for this one physically sitting next to me right now! (Found them a while back but had some trouble getting a couple of the discs to play – I think I’ve got that sorted out though.) Will give it the 3 episode test and report back later today!

I do know that Hideaki Anno is the director – from before he made Evangelion.

Oh, neat! Eventually I’ve got to watch both End and the Rebuild movies, but it would definitely be interesting to see what he was doing before NGE. Interested in hearing your report.

OK, I’ve watched the first three episodes now. The show is action heavy, and somewhat cartoony but with a continuous story episode-to-episode. The first three episodes feature Jean (a French inventor boy) and Nadia (the girl from the image), along with her baby lion, King, getting chased by a red haired woman and her two goons in their transformable tank/balloon/ship… thing. (The orange/red machine in the background.)

The story starts in Paris in 1889 where Jean falls in love at first sight with Nadia and the duo encounters the red haired woman and her goons. Going off what I’ve seen so far, I expect it’s going to largely be a “big journey” type show where the characters end up going to a lot of different places episode to episode while trying to learn about Nadia’s origin. “Sea monsters” and early airplanes seem to be important to the show so far along with various inventions. Nadia wears a crystal pendant (“Blue Water”) which the red haired woman wants to take. What it is / why she wants it hasn’t been explained yet. I’ve noticed a few musical elements that are familiar from Evangelion. The show has touched on some elements of racism lightly and vegetarianism/pacifism with Nadia’s character.

It’s interesting enough that I’ll keep watching.
