I was using connect which has a block instance I option I used but after switching to boost I’m now seeing those instances again and it’s a pain to block community by community because there are so many of them and they’re very active.
Did I miss the setting for this or is it not a feature of Boost?
- You can mute an instance. I don’t think lemmy has the option to block an instance - If I’m not mistaken, the feature is already developed in Lemmy, just not released yet. Should be a few months.
- Thanks, I saw that after I posted and was going to reply that fixed it but for some reason I couldn’t find my post using Boost. I thought maybe I hadn’t actually posted it. - Then I discovered that muting an instance isn’t working the same as blocking. I’m still seeing communities from those instances and having to explicitly block each so I think a block function for instances is still needed. Unless I muted incorrectly.

- I wish the ability to block instances on the homepage but not the comments. - I don’t want furry porn popping up when I’m browsing All but it’s not like they’re posting it in the comments of news articles - That’s a good suggestion, I’d love both options really. Your example of furry instances is good for having just posts blocked but there are other instances /communities who troll pretty hard looking for reactions so I’ve got no desire to see any of their posts or comments.

- Blocking instances is not available in the Lemmy API. Boost has an option to not show posts from an instance on you feeds. Just tap the three dots on a post from a instance you don’t want on your feed, then select “Mute->Mute instance”
