What are you looking for? Stuff directly from Japan? 25 years ago when I lived in the US, jlist.com was the place to go. Seems they’ve turned into https://jbox.com/ now, but otherwise seems the same as before … anyone know if they’re still legit? Used to be you could just message him what you were looking for and he’d quote you a price, but not sure if he’s still doing that though.

Wow, genuinely impressed. Spy Family made a HUGE impact in Japan, so I would love to see Frieren find the same success

Yeah, they are literally adapting Frieren panel by panel, line by line. The only difference is the animation is top notch with even the small details, and the voice acting is hitting it out of the park. At this point I think it’s safe to say the anime is the definitive version.

Spy x Family is basically just a sitcom, after the initial setup there really wasn’t much overall story or character growth. That’s totally fine, but it’s not really going to generate a lot of buzz each week.

Especially if you’re a middle schooler in a skirt

For real. Arrested not just for photos, but for taking upskirt photos of a middle school girl with a hidden camera. There’s no forgiving or explaining away that, it’s beyond reprehensible.

Oh gods yes, usually it’d be something that blows through the whole story in 10~12 eps and is quickly forgotten about. I guess it helps that the manga was quite popular, so they knew they’d have a hit if they stayed true to the source. Finished book 2, I can definitely see why this story struck a chord with people now.

I’m in love with this show, so I went out and bought all 11 volumes of the manga yesterday. I’m surprised how faithful it is. Like, actually, literally almost every shot, every line is the same. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a studio do that. But I gotta say, the cast nails it in the show. Every hits a little harder, and feels a bit more “real”.

I get ya, I’m on the older side too, and kinda tired of seeing the same shit repeated over and over again. But I will say I am REALLY enjoying Frieren so far. It seems to be 100% for the older crowd. It’s a pure fantasy anime, but it’s much slower and more emotional. If you give it a shot, note that the first 4 eps are meant to be viewed as a set. This week’s was technically ep 5 even though it’s the second time it aired.
