you can set the languages you understand in the settings. that should filter out all posts written in other languages if i understood correctly

Yes, but ideally you search for a few variations of a community before creating a new one :)

I just hope that it will be more distributed than Matrix and not everyone registers on lemmy.ml (matrix.org in case of matrix) so the decentralization works for real here instead of 90% (exaggerating, don’t know the numbers) of the user base sitting on one instance :)

I just wanted to say that I am impressed with the mentality here. Everyone seems so engaged (at least at first now) that Lemmy feels alive although we are relatively few people, still. That reminds me somewhat of the early stages of the internet, when everything was still new and you felt special for being part of something big blowing up. Keep it up and try not to create redundant communities on every instance!
