Special shout outs to DanDaDan, Solo Leveling, Sakamoto Days, and Kaiju #8. They’re all pretty good, but they’re all still ongoing, and I usually gotta rewatch an anime in full once or twice before I’ll consider it a favorite.

Came into this thread just to shout out The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious. Aki Toyosaki’s performance has Ristarte is just incredible, and really elevates an already good premise.

Hi, creator here, I license all my music under Creative Commons BY because I don’t agree with the concept of copyright and want people to freely use and enjoy my music. I also don’t really “sell” my work, I just ask for a suggested donation. I’d argue a lot of artists have a similar desire for their work to be spread as far as possible, and shared with as many as possible. Most of the actual money in the music industry goes to corpo suits who specifically want to restrict the ability for people to interact with my music, so they can enrich themselves. In the U.S. at least, that seems to be the norm of the “art industry.” Greedy executives making huge bucks profiting off the work of creatives, while those creatives rarely see the same profits.

If you can get past the part where it is pure, unabashedly crass, Panty + Stocking & Garterbelt oozes style. Actually, it oozes multiple styles, as it’s more than willing to switch from a ‘chibi’ style, to an overly ‘high-res’ style, and even to real world paper mâché within a single episode. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and certainly “built different.”

It’s also getting a second season after a decade, so there’ll be more of it soon.
