Nope. I don’t talk about myself like that.

    While the login system works…

It’s ripe for abuse though. DMs are federated traffic and are not cryptographically secured in any form. So in theory a bad actor instance admin could spawn unlimited accounts and login… Or just sniff incoming requests from whatever instance this traffic is spawned from and obtain the login code.

For something like this, probably fine… But I wouldn’t use it for anything else, nor would I trust any app that does use this system.

  • go fuck off back to your server,

Lmao. You’re not even a user of lemmy.ml, the site you’re actually posting to. I’ll do whatever I want because that’s the point of the fediverse. Feel free to actually use the functions of lemmy and I dunno… block me… or if you’re an admin on your instance, defederate/block mine. It’s really simple if your feelings are hurt to find your own solution without resorting to name calling and hostility. You choose hostility, and that just shows how disgusting your behavior is.

It’s not my fault you don’t understand how firewalls, proxies, reverse proxies, web servers, http, or lemmy itself actually works. There’s SO many answers to these problems already out there but people like you act like it’s the end of the world.

and don’t come fussing when you get overran by bots.

It won’t happen. Because I actually understand how to run services like this.

    No. You don’t.

Yes I do. Because I actually understand how servers work. If your just running Lemmy with no understanding of how the internet works… then you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Edit: Oh I missed this the first time I read it…

Quit being a twerp, and work with us.

Yeah no. I have no interest to work with leeches that don’t understand how to run services. Let alone ones that jump straight to ad hominem.

Please stop trying to tell me how to run my instance. If I wanted your input or your rules I would have joined your instance.

If you have a problem with my instance you’re in your right to defederate or block me. But I do not care about your plea to enable shit that I don’t want to enable.

What I will say is that congrats! You’ve shown that you’re willing to bot manipulate your post. That earns a ban from my instance! That’s the glory of the Fediverse.

  • I host a lot of stuff for family and friends (nextcloud, email, etc). This will be no different for me. I suspect I can handle a few hundred users on my setup before I run out of resources that I’m willing to readily allocate to this. I will gladly do so indefinitely in the foreseeable future. I think I’ll keep it friends of friends sort of thing though. That way the communities mean something more on my instance.

If Google fiber comes into my area like they’re expected to… they appear to offer 8Gbps, I might up that number considerably under a new domain and instance.
