I haven’t watched this one but every clip I see is increasingly unhinged.
I guess I have to add it to my watchlist.

I’d recommend giving it another watch if it’s been a few years, it’s not that bad we just like making fun of it, nothing gross or inappropriate happens. She doesn’t “groom him” at all, he misreads her kindness as affection because he not as mature as he thinks, she pushes back against his adolescent crush and they connect on a more real and human level than that. She’s also the teacher you see at the start of your name too, which is a nice little connection to see she’s doing OK a few years later.
Its actually one of my favourite shorter films (it’s only 45 minutes), I first saw it in 2013 and thought it was good but a bit odd in subject matter, but I’m 34 now and understand it on a different level, that is, sometimes you find your strongest emotional support in the people you’d least expect, and because of that I connected with it on a really deep level…
Still got the feet though, but these days I’m into that I guess.
Shinkai films always relate back to some form of separation, time, space, etc,
Garden of words is separation by age…
Yes its unhinged AF but I love it. Its got gorgeous animation, hypnotic rain scenes, its got feet, its got grooming, its got super pretty edge coloring… What what were those two things?..
Biker Mice from Mars.
its super sonic obviously.
Big Agree, I watched Lain around the same time as I was reading a lot and the books I read at the time were similarly prophetic (Nueromancer, Snow Crash, The Diamond Age, Permutation City) all right around the time of peak “The Matrix” hype…
It was a near endless field of flowers.
Most of my top picks have been said already, but none has mentioned Vivy yet.
So. I’ll say Vivy
I have no idea what this is but it looks like a fever dream.
S1 came out in 2020 and I must have missed it. Anyone know if it’s any good?
Huh, I was not expecting Evan Calls favourite bands to include Eluveitie and Borknagar.
What a cool guy
Well… that’s usually a good indicator another season is coming
Thats a weird as hell mashup but I’m happy it now exists.
Man I’m not super Into fashion but call of the night had some great ones.
Was great, but it got a little weird towards the end like it wanted to do more with its world and new characters but didn’t.
I loved Clannad, but I do tend to enjoy slower shows quite a lot, I see clannad as a sort of protoype of Bunny Girl Senpai, they’re extremely similar if you think about it.
Afterstory is a totally different beast and more or less comes out of nowhere to hurt you, but only if you actually connected with the characters in S1.
And Kevin Penkin soundtrack. This is going to be a very different kind of show.
He’s a bit exaggerated but I hope it tones down a touch. I guess the same applies for the pretty out there animation in the 3d composite scenes. It looks like they’ve figured out a really cool tech for it but not how to use it properly yet.
Also giving it 3 episodes, but I’m such a sucker for this type of show so I’ll probably finish it anyway.
They’re definitely trying to show off their 3d compositing, it’s pretty unique but it’s wayyy over stylised in the introduction. I think they’ll tone it down as the series goes on and find the middle ground that works.
Hair physics are whack though, like the whole show exists in a tornado.
I’m just now realising that Nukumizu’s name has mizu (water) in it, and looking up the nuku part can mean “to extract” … and they guy’s hobby is water
