PinePhone Pro for the mobile side. The schematics are available. I quite like mine, especially with the keyboard case. It’s basically a pocket laptop.
Looks awesome, this might be my new go-to means of browsing Lemmy. I was using a userstyle to make Lemmy more like old reddit, but this is a literal almost 1-to-1 replica of the UI I’ve enjoyed for so long and it feels pretty much completely functional.
I’d like it to let you choose your preferred comment sort method though, so I could pick sort by top as default like reddit did.
Absolutely not. I hate that pay to win bullshit. We shouldn’t be pushing for monetization that encourages or creates any sort of “premium user experience”. That’s corporate bullshit. Paying for the service should improve the service for everyone, not just for yourself or for some comment you want to feel superior to everyone else by “paid upvoting”.
Liking the new functionality so far! The spinner when clicking the upvote button is a huge improvement and lets you know that your upvote was actually received. I have noticed that some posts on my homepage show as expanded by default which is annoying (full size image/video instead of thumbnail) and this wasn’t happening before.
DIGGing you say?
100% agree. Free and open software is free because the developers are also the users, the goal is to collectively produce something that is as good as it can be for the user. Proprietary software is created by a company and targeted at users who are not the developers, the developers usually have little to no stake in the usefulness of the software, it’s just a means to an end. That end is always money, so exploiting the user becomes the goal.
Same, I’ve always wanted something community-powered to take off and finally actually draw users away from the corporate owned garbage, but it never happened. Now that the corporate platforms all decided to shoot their feet in unison, we’re finally seeing some adoption of more user-friendly platforms and I’m loving it.
I wish this were added to the official web UI too. I know they probably have reasons against it but just let us choose for ourselves. They can leave Hot the default but I do think the votes matter and the highest voted comments are usually worth reading.
