They are (mostly) federated, which means that users from one can see what’s on the others. There are a few exceptions to this, primarily for extremist content which are not federated with most of the other servers.
That’s kinda how WW1 and 2 started… too much ignoring leading to an eventually much larger required ass kicking.
You can’t simply ignore hate. You have to actively stamp it out.
If you add “lemmy” to the end like you would add for reddit based results you should be able to search just fine. There’s just not enough content or awareness yet to matter.

While it’s a great theory, people who want to use those bad words/concepts have been working around language filters for ages. Anti-vaxers will call them Vitamins for example.
One nice part of this is that the current level means that the next big event causing a wave away from Reddit will hold onto more people, since there’s content here for them to see and read. When the last big batch came over 6 months ago, it was pretty bare and a lot of people left immediately.
